So.
Forgive me if this comes out convoluted, but this section and this image are making me wonder.
We’ve seen in the past (this page in particular) the two pieces constantly circling each other. I originally assumed that this was just an illustration of the eternal battle between the two sides, but now according to that top image it seems that that’s the Battlefield’s first form.
What are those pieces? They’re kings, but are they the actual white and black king? Are they prototyped alongside the Battlefield to become more humanoid pieces? Or are those two pieces more allegorical, symbolizing the two kings and eventually prototyping to become fortresses and strongholds that the armies try to hold?
I expect it’s the latter, but imagine the ramifications if it were the former. It almost makes sense; the queens are the ones creating the laws and ruling their kingdoms, while the kings are nowhere in sight. Does this prove true prior to the Battlefield’s prototyping, too? Considering we never saw hide nor hair of the black king when we saw the Batterwitch in [S] Prince of Heart: Rise Up, I’m wondering.
(This is probably a really tangential idea that only I am interested in I AM LIVEBLOGGING VERY SLOWLY TONIGHT I MUST SAY)
