Anonymous asked: Are you, like, bored of Homestuck or something? Is there a reason you only update in spurts, because you have to force yourself to actually liveblog this shit you don't care about anymore?
First things first: I am absolutely not bored of Homestuck! I just want that point stated flat-out.
Basically, what happened is this: I’ve started zipline again, which means I’m at work upwards of ten hours a day. Which would be fine! However, I think I mentioned before that I was working on a show? Since opening that one, I was cast in two more and made stage manager of the second show, which puts me in charge of 50+ people. By the time I get home in the evenings and make dinner/do email/various network checks and do whatever administrative tasks I have waiting on me, it’s usually late enough that either the liveblogging would last ~45 minutes before I had to go crash in preparation for the next day, or I don’t have the mental capacity to think critically enough to really read. (Remember how recently I’ve been making stupid statements like wondering where Karkat knew about shipping from? …yeeeeeeeah. There’d be more idiocy like that. So much more.)
I won’t lie, there have been a couple evenings where I went, “I really ought to liveblog tonight! I should do it! …I’m just gonna read Game of Thrones/play Birth By Sleep instead…” But the majority of evenings it’s been “I should really update my files/write that email to my old professor/make next week’s sign-in sheets/respond to that post that’s waiting on me/do laundry/read/work on fleshing out that new story I want to do/search for full time jobs and apply… Iiiiiii’m going to sit here and stare blankly at the computer until I give it up as a bad job and go to bed instead!” (…to name a few of the many, many tasks I keep procrastinating on.)
The “spurts” you mentioned? Those have generally been either days off, or days where I wasn’t at work nearly as long as I was supposed to be and so had more than enough energy for blogging.
It’s all about balance! At the moment I’m struggling to adjust to not really having any time off, as I’ve become accustomed to having plenty of time to laze about and do nothing. Which is certainly not a good excuse at all! …Actually, can I quote Hyperbole and a Half? This post is long enough as it is. I’m going to quote Hyperbole and a Half: “The longer I procrastinate on returning phone calls and emails, the more guilty I feel about it. The guilt I feel causes me to avoid the issue further, which only leads to more guilt and more procrastination. It gets to the point where I don’t email someone for fear of reminding them that they emailed me and thus giving them a reason to be disappointed in me.” REPLACE PHONE CALLS/EMAIL WITH LIVEBLOGGING AND THAT IS ACTUALLY PRETTY ACCURATE?
Anyways. Long story short. Definitely not bored! Just being terrible at time management and sleeping my life away. I’m working on it.
